By accessing or using Debt Chisel ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. We may update these Terms from time to time — your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

2. Description of Service

Debt Chisel is a web-based debt payoff planning tool. You manually enter your debt information, and the Service generates optimized payment schedules based on your income scenarios. The Service offers a free tier with algorithmic strategies (avalanche and snowball) and a paid Pro tier with AI-powered hybrid optimization, unlimited debts, and additional features.

3. Not Financial Advice

Debt Chisel is a planning tool, not a financial advisor. The Service provides informational debt payoff projections and optimization suggestions based on the data you enter. It does not constitute financial, legal, tax, or investment advice. The AI-powered hybrid strategy is a mathematical optimization — it does not consider your full financial picture. Always consult a qualified financial professional before making significant financial decisions. We are not responsible for financial outcomes resulting from following plans generated by the Service.

4. Account Terms

• You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.
• You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
• You are responsible for the accuracy of the debt information you enter.
• One person per account. Accounts are not transferable.
• You must not use the Service for any illegal purpose or to violate any laws.

5. Free and Pro Tiers

Free Tier

The free tier allows up to 5 debts with avalanche and snowball optimization strategies. No credit card is required. The free tier is available indefinitely at no cost.

Pro Tier

The Pro tier ($9.99/month or $89.99/year) includes unlimited debts, AI-powered hybrid optimization, advanced what-if scenarios, and priority support. Pro subscriptions are billed through Stripe and renew automatically. You may cancel at any time from your account settings — cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial billing periods.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to store or transmit malicious code
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its related systems
• Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without permission
• Resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the Service
• Use the Service in a way that could damage, disable, or impair it
• Misrepresent your identity or impersonate another person

7. Data Accuracy

The accuracy of your debt payoff plan depends entirely on the information you provide. Debt Chisel performs calculations based on your inputs — if balances, interest rates, or minimum payments are entered incorrectly, the resulting plan will reflect those inaccuracies. You are responsible for verifying your data during monthly check-ins and updating the Service as your financial situation changes.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, algorithms, and content, is owned by Debt Chisel and protected by intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of the data you enter. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process your data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Debt Chisel and its owners, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater. The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or engage in behavior that is harmful to other users or the Service. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in accordance with applicable federal and state law.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time by posting an updated version on the Service. Material changes will be communicated via email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
